St. Thomas Falls On The Road To Austin College

SHERMAN, Texas – The St. Thomas baseball team came up short with a 6–2 loss to Austin College on Friday night. With the result, the Celts moved to 7–11 overall on the season despite collecting seven hits and turning three double plays defensively.

Austin College struck early in the first inning, taking advantage of a defensive miscue before adding an RBI single to build a 2–0 lead. The Kangaroos added another run in the second inning on a bases-loaded walk to extend the advantage to 3–0.

St. Thomas broke through in the fourth inning with an RBI when Justin Ogle singled to right field to drive in Gage Kimble, cutting the deficit to 3–1.

Austin College answered in the fifth inning with a two-run home run to stretch its lead to 5–1. The Celts continued to battle and scored another run in the seventh inning stretch as Aryan Chopra grounded out to second base to score Zach Cline, making it 5–2.

The Kangaroos added an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh which secured the 6–2 victory.
