Senior Night Victory Secures SCAC Championship for No. 5 Celts

HOUSTON, TX – The University of St. Thomas Men's basketball team celebrated Senior Night in style, clinching the SCAC regular-season championship with a 75–63 victory over Centenary on Sunday at Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center. The Celts ranked No. 5 in the nation as they improved to 24-1 overall and finished conference play with a perfect 16-0 record.

St. Thomas set the tone early, building a strong lead in the opening half behind balanced scoring and solid defensive pressure. The Celts controlled the tempo and limited Centenary's scoring opportunities while pushing the ball in transition.

A three-pointer from Corey Thompson and strong finishes inside from Nathan Kongolo sparked a key run midway through the half. Angel Johnson directed the offense and contributed on the glass, helping the Celts extend their lead. St. Thomas carried a 35–23 advantage into halftime.

The Celts maintained control throughout the second half, matching Centenary's scoring while keeping the lead in double figures. St. Thomas continued to capitalize in transition, turning defensive stops into fast-break opportunities.

Kongolo provided a highlight stretch with consecutive baskets during a second-half run, while Thompson knocked down another three-pointer to keep momentum on the Celts side. Johnson added key free throws down the stretch to help seal the Senior Night victory.

St. Thomas finished with balanced scoring, led by Thompson with 15 points and Kongolo with 14. Johnson added 11 points and nine rebounds, while the Celts depth provided valuable contributions throughout the game.
