HOUSTON, TX – The University of St. Thomas Women's basketball team used a strong final three quarters to defeat LeTourneau University 72–54 Friday night at the Jerabeck Activity and Athletic Center. The victory improves the Celts to 16–6 overall and 10–5 in SCAC play.
LeTourneau came out hot in the opening period, knocking down four three-pointers and building an early lead. St. Thomas stayed within striking distance behind baskets from Kenna Gibson and Amyia Bowie, but the YellowJackets held a 21–16 advantage at the end of the quarter.
The Celts responded with a strong second quarter to take control of the game. Gibson and Bowie led the offensive push while Kameron Goodman added key contributions on both ends of the floor. St. Thomas tightened its defense and limited LeTourneau's scoring opportunities, outscoring the visitors 20–9 in the quarter to take a 36–30 lead into halftime.
St. Thomas extended its advantage in the third quarter with one of its most efficient stretches of the night. The Celts controlled the paint, with Nora Aigberadion and Jaydia Morris battling on the boards and finishing inside. Gibson continued to pace the offense as UST pushed the lead to 54–40 heading into the final period.
The Celts remained in control throughout the fourth quarter, maintaining steady offensive production while forcing turnovers that led to transition opportunities. Bowie orchestrated the offense and Gibson delivered key baskets to keep the lead secure. St. Thomas closed out the game with a 72–54 conference victory.
Gibson led the Celts with 18 points, while Bowie added 17 points and seven assists. Aigberadion contributed 10 points and six rebounds, and Goodman added eight points. Morris led the team with seven rebounds.
