SEGUIN, TX – The University of St. Thomas' Volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep over the University of the Ozarks with set scores of 25-19, 25-22, 25-15. With the sweep, the Celts improve to 4-6 overall and 3-1 in SCAC play.
St. Thomas took control early in the opening set, building a 7-4 advantage before extending the lead to 11-5. Audrey Cataline helped the Celts maintain their momentum with multiple kills, while Noor Haydari added a kill and contributed at the net as UST moved ahead 16-9. Ozarks trimmed the deficit to 16-13, but the Celts responded with kills from Ariana Willis and Katelyn Marti to maintain separation. UST reached set point at 24-18 and closed the frame 25-19 on another Cataline kill, giving her four kills in the set.
The second set remained close early, with UST holding a 9-7 advantage before Ozarks pulled within one at 10-9. The Celts answered with kills from Alexis Bodunrin and Cataline and built a 14-12 lead. After Ozarks tied the set at 15-15, UST regained control behind Haydari and Bodunrin, moving ahead 18-16. The Celts continued to hold the advantage late, taking a 22-21 lead before Johnson Ta'Niyah put UST ahead 23-22. Jada Stallworth then delivered the final two points, including a kill by Haydari, as the Celts secured the 25-22 victory.
UST faced an early deficit in the third set after Ozarks opened with a 3-0 lead, but the Celts quickly responded. Haydari recorded an ace and helped UST move in front 5-4, while Bodunrin and Cataline added kills during the ensuing stretch. The Celts built a 13-8 advantage, then extended the lead to 18-12 with Haydari and Bodunrin continuing to contribute offensively. Bodunrin added another kill to make it 20-14, and UST closed the match with five of the final six points. Haydari finished the sweep with a kill for match point before another Haydari kill closed the set at 25-15.
Cataline led the Celts with 12 kills, while Bodunrin added 10 kills and 15 digs. Haydari contributed six kills, five blocks and two aces. Lange Carly recorded 21 digs, while Martinez Alexie and Stallworth Jada combined for 29 assists. As a team, UST finished with 35 kills, four aces, eight blocks, 34 assists and 67 digs.
