Celts Stay Perfect at Home with the Win Over McMurry

HOUSTON, TX-- UST men's basketball team continued its strong season with an 88–54 victory over McMurry on its home court. With the win, the Celts improved to 16–1 overall and 8–0 in conference play, remaining a perfect 9–0 at home this season.

UST set the tone early, opening the game with active defense and balanced scoring. Nathan Kongolo knocked down a three-pointer to get the Celts on the board, and despite early back-and-forth action, UST began to gain momentum behind strong ball movement and defensive pressure. Angel Johnson helped set up multiple scoring chances, while Kongolo continued to score inside and from beyond the arc. Late in the half, the Celts closed strong with points at the free-throw line and in transition, taking a 33–23 lead into halftime.

The Celts came out of the locker room with high energy and quickly extended the lead. Reyce Allen scored repeatedly in the paint, finishing through contact and converting at the free-throw line. UST's defense forced turnovers that turned into fast-break points, including dunks from Allen and Angel Johnson. As the half went on, the Celts continued to stretch the margin with consistent scoring and strong rebounding. Danny Canul provided a spark off the bench, scoring efficiently in limited minutes, while UST's depth allowed multiple players to contribute down the stretch. The Celts closed out the game with confidence to secure the 88–54 win.

Nathan Kongolo led the Celts with 16 points while adding four rebounds and shooting an efficient 4-of-5 from three-point range. Danny Canul also finished with 16 points in just eight minutes of action, going 5-of-7 from the field, a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc, and pulling down five rebounds.
