Clarksville, AR- The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team hit the road to Clarksville, Arkansas for a conference match-up against the University of the Ozarks. Defending their winning streak, the Celts showcased poise and determination in a tightly contested battle, securing a hard-fought 68–65 victory over the Eagles.
The Eagles looked to strike first, but the Celts quickly applied defensive pressure to settle into the game.
Jaydia Morris helped spark early momentum for St. Thomas as both teams traded baskets in a physical opening stretch. With the score tied midway through the quarter,
Amyia Bowie knocked down a key three-pointer off an assist from Morris to regain control.
Yasmine Aly added instant energy off the bench, drilling a three of her own before converting on a fast-break jumper to close the period. St. Thomas carried a 20–17 lead into the second quarter.
The Celts continued to build momentum to open the second, as
Kenna Gibson buried a three-pointer with
Kameron Goodman dishing the assist, followed by another triple from Aly to push the lead to nine. Ozarks responded with aggressive play at the free-throw line, but St. Thomas held steady. Bowie capped the quarter with strong hustle plays, converting an offensive rebound into a layup and capitalizing on a steal created by Goodman to add two more points. The Celts entered halftime with a 33–27 advantage.
St. Thomas came out of the break firing on all cylinders. Bowie opened the quarter at the line, igniting a dominant scoring run that featured a three-pointer from Goodman off a Bowie assist and another strong finish in the paint by Bowie. The Celts stretched their lead with disciplined ball movement and defensive pressure. Although the Eagles attempted to respond late in the quarter, St. Thomas maintained control and closed the period ahead 56–41.
Ozarks made one final push in the closing quarter, opening with early baskets to shift momentum. Bowie steadied the Celts at the free-throw line, but the Eagles used a late run to close the gap and make it a one-possession game. With the pressure mounting, Bowie delivered a crucial layup in the paint to regain separation. In the final moments,
Jaydia Morris calmly sank clutch free throws to seal the victory and secure the Celts' 68–65 conference win.
