Conway, AR- The University of St. Thomas women's basketball team traveled to Conway, Arkansas for a conference match against Hendrix College, opening the weekend with strong early energy. Despite a fast start and multiple momentum-building plays throughout the game, the Warriors pulled away late as the Celts fell to an 83–68 loss on the road.
St. Thomas came out aggressive on both ends, setting the tone with defensive pressure and transition offense. After early three-pointers from Hendrix briefly shifted momentum, the Celts responded by attacking the paint and forcing turnovers. Kameron Goodman sparked multiple fast-break opportunities with steals, while Macie Whitfield converted inside to keep UST within striking distance.The closing stretch of the quarter showcased consecutive steals led to layups from Branasia Brazelton and Goodman, followed by another fast-break finish and free throw from Goodman to cap a decisive run. St. Thomas closed the quarter on an impressively high note, taking a 19–15 lead into the second.
Hendrix answered early in the second, but the Celts continued to battle possession by possession. Goodman knocked down key three-pointers to regain the lead, while Whitfield went up on the glass for a layup to bring UST back in the game midway through the quarter. The Warriors closed the quarter with momentum, sending the Celts into halftime trailing 34–31.
Coming out of the break, St. Thomas looked to regain control with physical play inside. Whitfield secured points from the line early, while Goodman and Amyia Bowie connected on a fast-break layup to pull within two. However, Hendrix responded with a strong run but the Celts continued to fight. Morris attacked the lane for a tough jumper, and Bowie added points in transition to halt the momentum. Hendrix's efficiency down the stretch of the quarter allowed them to build a double-digit advantage, with St. Thomas trailing 64–51 heading into the final frame.
UST opened the fourth quarter with confidence, as Bowie knocked down a three-pointer. The Celts continued to push the pace, as a three from Yasmine Aly later in the quarter added another spark as UST attempted to close the gap. Despite continued effort on both ends, Hendrix capitalized on key possessions and free throws to maintain control. The Celts continued to attack until the final buzzer, closing the game with strong rebounding and defensive hustle, but ultimately lost the match at 83–68.
St. Thomas was led by Kameron Goodman, who finished with 18 points, adding five steals while converting all of her free-throw attempts. Macie Whitfield contributed a strong all-around performance with 15 points and seven rebounds, providing a consistent presence on both ends of the floor. Amyia Bowie added nine points and served as a facilitator, dishing out five assists to help generate offense throughout the game.
