KERRVILLE, TX – St. Thomas men's soccer traveled to Kerrville, TX, to face their first conference opponent, Schreiner University. The Celts extended their winning streak with a 2-0 victory, improving their overall record to 5-1.
UST entered the match boldly and with confidence, carrying their winning momentum onto the field. The first half reflected their determination to take control early, as the Celts made several shot attempts against Schreiner's defense. Just 18 minutes in,
Jovany Garcia put UST on the board with a goal assisted by
Angel Landaverde. The Celts wasted no time in capitalizing in the half, as
Brandon Delaney added another goal in the 28th minute to give UST a commanding 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, the Mountaineers fought to stay in the match, but UST's intensity was too much to keep up with. The Celts continued to apply offensive pressure while goalkeeper
Jorge Gonzalez supplied a firm defense position, producing key saves. With control on both ends of the field, the Celts closed out the game with a 2-0 win.
