HOUSTON, TX – The University of St. Thomas Women's Soccer team traveled across town for a highly anticipated match-up against NCAA Division I opponent Texas Southern University. Facing off against the Tigers in an exhibition game, the Celts showcased determination and strength, ultimately falling 3-0.
The match started well as UST and TSU make efforts to try and score. However, the Tigers utilized an opportunity to attack in the 11th minute, slipping one past the defense to get a lead ahead. Despite the setback, the Celts remained composed, continuing to press forward and challenge TSU's backline throughout the remainder of the half. Entering the break, the score stood at 1-0 in favor of the Tigers. Throughout the game, UST continued to press on TSU's defense, showcasing their capabilities and improvements in this season so far. But the Tigers ended up finding the back of the net twice in the second half, making the final score 3-0.
St. Thomas displays their growth and discipline, against a tough Division I squad, walking away with a valuable experience. This exhibition serves as a stepping stone as UST builds on that momentum heading into the heart of their season, as they prepare to face their conference opponents.
