Houston, TX – The University of St. Thomas women's soccer team hosted North American University at SaberCats Stadium in a non-conference match-up. Entering the game with a 1-1-2 record, the Celts were determined to earn their first win of the season — and they delivered with a 3-0 victory over the Stallions.
The Celts set the tone early in the first half, coming in hot on the 21st minute when Emma Cerda scored the opening goal off an assist from Amy Romero. The quick lead gave UST the confidence to keep pressing, and just ten minutes later, freshman Sydney Ferguson doubled the score, utilizing a well put setup from Karleigh Villanueva to make it 2-0. Now at halftime, the Celts ensured the Stallions had no chance to score, as Amy Romero secured the team's third goal, assisted by Grace Carmichael.
