HOUSTON,TX-- St. Thomas Celts made quick work of Alverno College in their third match of the season, cruising to a 3-0 victory on Friday afternoon. The Celts remain undefeated with a perfect 3-0 record, taking the match with set scores of 25-10, 25-6, and 25-10.
The Celts came out firing in the first set, taking a 10-3 lead early. They never looked back, as strong offensive play and solid defense helped them cruise to a 25-10 set victory. The team's momentum carried into the second set, where UST built a quick 7-2 lead. Back-to-back kills by Audrey Cataline pushed the lead to 15-4, and with contributions from freshmen Brooke Barnes and Cailin Brokaw, the Celts extended their lead to 20-6. UST wrapped up the set 25-6, dominating the second frame.
Alverno tried to regroup in the third set, but the Celts' strength remained evident. UST continued their relentless attack, claiming the final set 25-10 to secure the sweep and the 3-0 victory.
