Georgetown, TX– UST men's soccer traveled to play Southwestern at Southwestern Varsity Fields in Georgetown, TX. The Celts put up a tremendously hard fight against the Pirates, striving to apply pressure throughout the game and keeping the energy high from start to finish.
The first half was marked by back-and-forth action, with Southwestern delivering a challenge early, but the Celts showed their determination. UST managed to get shots up against the Pirates' defense, highlighted by efforts from #16
Emmanuel Rodriguez, to kickstart the game's momentum. Freshman #24
Nathan Udojie also tested the Pirates with a dangerous attempt, showing the Celts' ability to break through Southwestern's back line.
In the second half, UST continued to press forward, refusing to back down. The Celts built possession through the midfield and created more attacking opportunities, that kept the Pirates under pressure. While Southwestern ultimately held on for the win, the Celts' determination and ability to battle until the final whistle left a strong impression, proving they can go toe-to-toe with their conference opponents.
Despite their strength and persistence, the Celts were unable to score. Still, UST fought hard and held on strong throughout the match, leaving plenty of room to build onto their momentum as the season progresses.
