AUSTIN,TX- A dramatic ninth-inning rally by the University of St. Thomas baseball team has been paused due to weather.
Facing Trinity at Dell Diamond Stadium in Austin, TX, the Celts erupted for five runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game 8-8. With the momentum clearly shifting in their favor, the game was suspended due to inclement weather.
The comeback began with an RBI single from Rylee Ratajczak to score Andrew Trinh. Jack Smith followed with a base hit to left center, bringing home Garrett Garner. Then, a throwing error allowed Ratajczak to score, and Ryan Izaguirre capped off the surge with a clutch single up the middle, scoring Smith to even the game.
The Celts still had two runners on with only one out before the game was delayed.
Play is scheduled to resume tomorrow at 10 AM, with St. Thomas looking to pick up right where they left off.
