Celts Drop Final Home Game to No. 9 Trinity

HOUSTON – The University of St. Thomas Baseball team wrapped up its final home game of the regular season with a battle against nationally ranked No. 9 Trinity, ultimately falling 12-8 at Husky Field. The Celts now sit at 19-15 overall and 17-10 in confernce.

After Trinity struck first with a run in the top of the first, St. Thomas answered immediately. Alex Trinh got on base, and senior Dillon McKee capitalized with a two-run blast to left field, putting the Celts ahead 2-1.

The Tigers responded with five runs across the second and third innings, using timely hitting to take a 6-2 lead. That included a two-RBI single and another RBI knock to build momentum.

The Celts didn't back down. In the bottom of the third, Tyler Mills reached on an error that allowed two runs to score. Then McKee stepped up again, driving in another run with an RBI single to trim the deficit to 6-5.

Trinity extended its lead again in the fifth, putting up four runs behind a triple, a double, and a pair of singles to make it 10-5.

In the sixth, Sam Lampson and Ryan Ratajczak delivered back-to-back solo home runs to bring the Celts closer at 10-7. Senior Timonthy Mansell added a solo shot in the ninth to cap the scoring effort.

Despite the late push, the Celts couldn't overcome the early deficit as the Tigers closed out the win.
