UST Earns A Point in SCAC Standings

HOUSTON, TX – The University of St. Thomas battled in a home match at SaberCats Stadium against conference opponent Colorado College. The Celts managed to end the competition in a 0-0 draw, a result that keeps their record strong and adds a valuable point to the Men's Soccer SCAC standings — placing them in the top spot. With the draw, UST now holds an overall record of 7-1-1 and a conference record of 3-0-1.

The Tigers came out determined, setting the tone early and challenging the Celts with their strategic attempts. Colorado College applied pressure by taking shot opportunities, but UST quickly responded by tightening their defense and pushing through the half to create counterattacks. As St. Thomas began to find rhythm in their passing and movement, the back-line stood firm, as the Celts maintained their consistent communication, that kept the Tigers off the scoreboard. The first half ended scoreless, 0-0, as both teams showed strong defensive presence.

Entering the second half, the Celts made adjustments in their attack to find open opportunities against Colorado's defense. Jacob Reyes sparked energy for UST with a strong shot on goal, lifting momentum for the Celts to continue to fight. Goalkeeper Jorge Gonzalez stood tall, producing a crucial save on a near-goal attempt that could have altered the games outcome. As the final minutes approached, UST stayed composed and continued to push for a game-winner, with Aldo Hernandez taking the last shot on target to the bottom center. Despite both teams' efforts, the match ended in a 0-0 tie — a hard-fought result that reflected the intensity and balance seen on the field.
