UST Gets Caught In the Storm

AUSTIN, TX- The University of St. Thomas men's soccer team traveled to Austin, Texas, to face Concordia University in a conference matchup. The Celts aimed to leave with a win but fell short against the Tornados, 3-0. This result puts UST at an overall record of 8-5-1 and a conference record of 4-4-1.

The match opened with Concordia pressing early, taking several on-goal shots, but the Celts defense stood firm with a crucial team save to keep the Tornados off the board. UST quickly shifted momentum, with Tony Castro taking the first shot on goal to challenge Concordia's keeper. The Celts continued to hold possession and build a steady pace, keeping the Tornados on high alert. Nearing the end of the half, Emmanuel Rodriguez made another strong on-goal attempt as both teams battled to reach a break through. The first half concluded scoreless at 0-0, with both sides showing solid defensive control.

However, momentum shifted midway through the half when Concordia capitalized on a short burst of play, scoring three goals within ten minutes to take a 3-0 lead. Despite the setback, the Celts continued to fight, maintaining pressure. Goalkeeper Jorge Gonzalez made key saves down the stretch to hold off additional scoring. Though the Celts fell 3-0, their efforts remained evident through the final whistle.
