Celts Split Doubleheader with Hardin Simmons as Lamb Goes Yard

Baseball wrapped up its series with Hardin Simmons splitting the day. After dropping game two in a close contest 2-1, the Celts responded by taking game three 7-3.

Game 1: UST 1 HSU 2 (7 Innings)

St. Thomas was first to strike as Cameron McClure scored on a dropped fly ball by the Cowboy's left fielder. With the score 1-0, Hardin Simmons responded with an RBI single to tie the game up in the second inning. With neither team willing to give an inch in the following four frames, Hardin Simmons finally took a 2-1 lead off a wild pitch. They only had to hold on for one more inning in the seventh, as they won game two narrowly.

Game 2: UST 7 HSU 3

The game was scoreless until the third inning when both teams' bats decided to break out. In the top of the third, Cameron McClure had an 2 RBI single to put St. Thomas up 2-0. Hardin Simmons responded with three hits and two runs to tie the score up, however, it was short-lived as Dylan Lamb went yard in the top of the sixth to score three and put St. Thomas up 5-2. From there, the Celts never looked back and added two runs of insurance to secure the 7-3 victory.

Up next, Constellation Field in Sugar Land is on deck as the Celts face Mary Hardin Baylor. Come out this Tuesday (Tickets are 10$) and support St. Thomas!
