In the first game of their series with Austin College, UST Softball run-ruled the Lady Kangaroos in five innings.
Emma Garrett would open up the scoring for the Celts with a RBI double in the bottom of the first to bring in Mia Terry. The very next at-bat, A Mallarie Munson double would drive Garrett home to give UST the early lead.
To extend the Celts lead in the second inning, Terry would record a 2 RBI single to right field as Kayleigh Deakle and Grace Coffelt would be driven home.
After two scoreless innings, the Celts entered the fifth inning eyeing a run-rule. Garrett would record her second RBI of the contest with her single to right field. With runners on the corners, Deakle would launch a ball deep to left field for a double and knock Garrett in. In to pinch-hit for the Celts, Sam Wendel would close the door on the Kangaroos with her RBI single. Due to a throwing error, Deakle would be brought home to score the eighth run of the game.
Lindsey Longuet would snag her 11th win of the season, pitching five-innings while striking out six batters.
The Celts will continue their series with Austin College tomorrow at 11:00 & 1:00.
