Celts "Hampton Inn" Classic Kicks off with SAGU winning first game

HOUSTON, Texas – Southwest Assemblies of God beat Goshen College, 78-62, Friday in the opening game of the University of St. Thomas' Celts Classic at the Jerabeck Activity & Athletic Center.

Lexi Rich canned a triple with 1:22 to play in the third quarter to give SAGU a 56-43 lead. The Lions went 10 of 14 from the floor, outscoring Goshen, 28-15, in the third period. Southwest Assemblies of God didn't relinquish the lead the rest of the way.

Goshen led 32-30 at halftime. The Maple Leafs (7-9) shot 11 of 32 from the field in the first half. Southwest Assemblies of God (6-4) hit 10 of 36 field goals in the first half.

Goshen's Alyson Prigge scored 16 of her 17 points, hitting 4 of 8 triples in the first half. Graysen Cockerham had 15 points and five rebounds, and Taniece Chapman 14 points and 10 boards for Goshen.

Rich had 13 points and four rebounds in the first half. Rich finished with 33 points on 11 of 24 shooting. Kiara Glenn had 14 points for the Lions.
