Profe” Balderas serves as an Associate Professor of Economics at the University of St Thomas in Houston. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Colorado. Dr. Balderas has extensive teaching experience at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, specializing in economics and Latin American studies, with academic appointments in both Mexico and the United States. He previously directed the Latin American Studies Program and has been actively involved in the development and leadership of multiple university study-abroad initiatives, as well as participating in several international academic programs himself.
His scholarly research centers on remittances, with a particular focus on the Mexico–U.S. corridor. Dr. Balderas is dedicated to fostering a deep understanding of global studies among his students and is known for his commitment to supporting them both academically and personally.
Outside the classroom, Dr. Balderas is a passionate soccer enthusiast. He played competitively at the collegiate level in his country of origin and remains an avid fan of the sport, often connecting with students through a shared love of the game.
