Damion King joined the University of St. Thomas men’s basketball staff as an assistant coach in August 2024.
Since joining Head Coach Anthony Medina’s staff, King has played an important role in the continued success of the Celts’ men’s basketball program. During the 2024–25 season, St. Thomas finished 23–2 overall and 15–1 in SCAC play while advancing to the NCAA Tournament.
The Celts followed that success with a historic 2025–26 season, finishing 29–1, earning a Top-5 national ranking, and making the deepest NCAA Tournament run in program history with an Elite Eight appearance. King’s contributions to the program were recognized when he was named the 2025–26 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC) Assistant Coach of the Year for Small Colleges.
King brings more than eight years of coaching experience to Medina’s staff, having previously served as an assistant coach at St. Thomas Episcopal High School.
Before joining the Celts, King worked extensively at the AAU level, most recently coaching for the JL3 EYBL Team. He also spent two years coaching with Houston Hoops EYBL and six years with Basketball University on the Adidas Gauntlet circuit, where he played a key role in developing elite basketball talent, including numerous players who went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level.
A graduate of Klein Forest High School, King is currently completing his bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies
