BROWNWOOD, TX— The St. Thomas men's soccer team fought to a hard-earned 0–0 draw on the road against Howard Payne University at Citizens National Bank Field. Both teams created late chances in a physical battle, but neither side could break the deadlock. With the result, the Celts move their overall record to 2–2–1 on the season.
The first half saw back-and-forth action as both defenses stood strong. Goalkeeper Luis Hernandez set the tone early for St. Thomas, turning away four shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes to keep the Yellow Jackets off the board. Dillon Trimble and Emmanuel Rodriguez each generated shot attempts for the Celts, but the match went into halftime scoreless.
St. Thomas pushed hard to break through in the second half, ramping up the offensive pressure with eight total shots. Tony Castro, Joshua Jaimes, and Brian Garcia each put clean strikes on target late in the game, but Howard Payne's goalie turned away every test. Hernandez and the Celts' defense held firm on the other end to lock down the clean sheet and secure the 0–0 final.
St. Thomas finished with 14 total shots and put 7 on goal during the match. Goalkeeper Luis Hernandez played the full 90 minutes in net, making 5 saves to earn the shutout.
