HOUSTON, TX – The University of St. Thomas women's soccer team hosted another conference opponent at SaberCats Stadium, welcoming the University of the Ozarks Eagles from Arkansas. Focused and determined to extend their winning momentum, the Celts secured a 2–0 victory, marking their third consecutive win improved their overall record to 8-1-4 and conference record to 5-0-2.
The Eagles kicked off the match looking to make an early statement, but the Celts quickly took control of the tempo.
Nicole Cruzco set the tone with the first shot on goal, displaying that UST intended to dominate from the start. Her efforts fueled the offense, leading up to an outstanding solo goal by senior
Abigail Davila in the 21st minute, giving the Celts a 1–0 advantage. The intensity remained high as
Ashlee Stoltje and
Emma Cerda both applied pressure with key shots that tested the Ozarks' defense. Before halftime, UST doubled their lead when
Alexia Richard scored her first goal of the season—sending the Celts into halftime ahead 2–0.
Coming off the half, UST maintained control and possession, keeping the Eagles on alert. A strong shot by
Amy Romero forced the Ozarks' defense to catch up, as the Celts continued to create scoring opportunities. Despite a few tense moments on the field, UST held their composure and stayed locked in defensively. The Celts closed out the match cleanly, earning another 2–0 victory to remain unbeaten in conference play thus far.
